THE MUPPET STORY: 159 klm from Thessaloniki to Egnatia national road E90( straight line road with no surprises,excellent quality of asphalt,just a little bit cornering after the tolls before entering the city),if you are in hurry you can speed up with no worries. ,or 221klm if you choose the old national road E12 (from Rentina,with beautiful forests giving their turn to even more beautiful beaches, avoiding the tolls :p,rugged quality of asphalt,great cornering,perfect places to take pictures,many villages to go through) ,if you seek adventure this is the road you can take,speed up limit 50-120klm/h. Kavala is pretty much similar with Thessaloniki. Beautiful port full of cafes and restaurants,old city with castle giving an amazing 360 view of the city,numerous organised beaches,three of them just few minutes from the centre,three atrificial groves for sports activities,ferry boat connection to island Thassos. Symbol of the city is the Vyzantine aquaduct,which gives you access to the old city(one of four accesses),you can go to the castle,there is the residence of Mehmet Ali near the church of Virgin Mary.From the yard of the church you can go down to a beautiful rocky beach(shown below) and if go west, walk through the rocky paths,its leads you down to the port again.
