This road starts near Loweswater, runs alongside Crummock Water, then Buttermere then climbs steeply up the Honister Pass to the Slate Mine with cafe and visitor centre at the top. The road then descends to Borrowdale, Rosthwaite before following Derwentwater into Keswick. It is a surfaced B road, mostly double track with narrow and steep sections, twisty along the lake sides. The road surface is poor in places. Plenty of sheep on the road down by the lakes and in summer the road by the lakes can be very busy with tourists. The scenery is epic even if the sun doesn't shine.
