This dirt road circles around the second largest lake in south America, with views on the lake you don't want to miss. From ruta 7 "Carretera Austral" it is also a way to cut east to access the Argentinian pampa. Don't miss the boat trip from Puerto Rio Tranquilo to visit the Catedral de Marmol, a vein of marble rock dropping dramatically in the lake. As for the road it is a long strip of ripio (the local name for a dirt road) with rocks, potholes and the omnipresent wind. There is even a monument to the wind in Chile Chico, in case you need a reminder. Some parts pf the road are suspended on the side of the mountain, with big drops to the lake, and big wind blasting you sideways: if you are subject to vertigo maybe you should avoid this road…
