Between Dongola (Sudan) and Assuan (Egypt) there is a new road opened no long time ago in the west side of the Nile. This road take you along the Sahara and parallel to the Nile, there is two options to overnight there, one of course is camping wherever you like or the second is to get to some of the few Nubian communities. We recommend Soleb where you can find ancient nubians ruins like huge temples or pyramids but also an impressive dune. Climb it and from the top you will enjoy one of the most magic sunsets in this planet. To sleep ask to some of the locals and they will be more than happy to invite you in the adobe houses. By the way, be ready to discover the milky way with all its power.
