Thanks to Gabor DrUngvari for sharing this Croatian gem. Imagine the mountain section of the Isle of Man TT, cut from the Man mountainside and dropped into the middle of the warmest blue of the Adriatic Sea. That's how to describe this road on the Isle of Pag. Here's Gabor: “Beautiful scenery and fine road. That is what you find on Pag. Follow the main road to the north and you will be amazed.”

Thank you to Mike Nolan for adding this brilliant community photo to Geert's road entry. It's great to see that different motorcyclists are discovering and riding the same routes. This little route turns south off the A82 to the east of Glen Coe and runs towards Glen Etive, a sandy beach, and the start of Loch Etive. Geert continues, “It is a dead end so yes you will have to turn around to do this approx 20km road again in the other direction. But it is well worth it.”

Alps, Switchbacks, Hillclimb

We've all heard of the Stelvio Pass. We might have heard of the Umbrail Pass. But how many of us have heard of the Torri di Fraele? All three of these switchback sessions are as good as back-to-back in the Alps, but only the Fraele is as good as unknown. There are 18 switchbacks, one after the other leading up to the Cancano dam. The road doesn't lead anywhere, so traffic is normally lighter than on the Stelvio. Jürgen Theiner thinks riding it is a must. “If you consider the Stelvio Pass to be the star of the Alpine roads, then the bends up to the Torri di Fraele seem like diamonds.” We agree.

Slim Tarmac, Secluded Setting, River Dam

Manfred puts it perfectly: “A small mountain road through a typical Norwegian rough and wild fjell. Lonesome riding and great views.” Indeed it is lonesome riding. The Rv 520 scratches through Norway's wilderness between two towns, Hara and Sauda, with barely a house to be seen in the middle. Only you, your bike, and the moss-covered rocks and heather to keep you company. The little lane should be well-tarmacked if you ride in high Summer, as Norwegians keep even the smallest of their back roads in tip top condition.

Sunsets, Panoramas, Dirt Surface

Look at this road on a map and you'll be shocked at the hundreds of bends it crams into its 27 kilometres. But remember, this is mostly a dirt road, perfect for light trail riding, or a first adventure off the tarmac. Start in Tracchi and turn off the quite exciting SP6 just after the switchbacks. Find the gravel track that runs off to the left of the main road, a wooden sign advertising the Rifugio Primaneve and the Monte Tomba bar. From there you're off into the twists and turns of Lessinia Natural Park. It's a brilliant experience, but take a sat nav just in case you get lost.

Motorcycle Diaries user Tümer Gündem just happened to be riding the Seven Lakes near Turkey's Bolu Merkez in Autumn. It's the autumn leaves that make his great photographs so stunning. He suggests you ride the road between September 15th and October 15th to catch the colour right. “Fall is the beauty of this road,” he says, before telling us he also shot a video of his experiences. High Pass, Mountains, Resurfaced

Thanks to Julien Sales for sharing this beautiful old Irish bridleway, and a great road description to go with it: “The Healy Pass is a beautiful serpentine road along the R457. It goes through two summits in the Caha mountain range. The landscape is composed of harsh rocks and grazing land. Visibility is high, but be careful of sheep!” That's true enough. If a sheep is facing the road, it is much more likely to run onto it as you approach, so take extra care.

It's obvious that Karl D likes his roads smooth and fast. The 23-kilometre D118 between Mazamet and Cazelles in southern France is no exception. Kark likes it so much he's given it five starts for view, surface, and pleasure. The road curves through thick forested areas, with wide lanes, a dashed centre-line, and quick views into the valley to the west. A word of caution: there are many roads leading onto the D118, so watch out for vehicles turning into the path of your wheels.

Here's his description: “This road passes through the mountains from beautiful villages and old churches and it leads to Pertouli ski centre. The road surface is not the best and you will find a few metres of gravel but there is nothing to worry about.” Conquer the gravel, and you'll be rewarded with some fantastic photo opportunities of your own.

Kick back on Greta Ceresini's Gailtal Strasse. It runs from the Italian border in the west to the town of Arnoldstein in the east, just south of Villach. Set the energy levels to 'taking-in-the-landscape' and start cruising. Want to turn up the heat a little? Ride Route 87 between Radnig and Waisach, a road that hasn't made its way onto Motorcycle Diaries yet. Who will be first to share it?
