The C-44 is wide enough to accommodate any speed. The descent into the gorge is terrific: three lanes curving down into the earth, flanked by steep cliffs either side. The hills round here are called the Muntanyes de Tivissa-Vandellòs. Take care in the morning, as the road in the gorge doesn't get warmed by the sun until later in the day. The C-44 continues to the C-12, but we suggest turning off and exploring the T-311 – a smaller, twisty road to the north east.
