The road from Nelson to French Pass is a thrilling and picturesque journey, presenting a mix of winding sealed roads and sections of unsealed gravel that provide a dynamic and engaging riding experience. Reaching French Pass, a small settlement at the northern tip of the South Island, feels like a real accomplishment. The stunning views from the lighthouse reward riders for their efforts and provide a perfect spot to rest and reflect. There's also a small Department of Conservation (DOC) campground located nearby, which I highly recommend.
