Hwy 58 is fun to ride and it is beautiful in the springtime. It's so much fun to ride that I never stop much to snap a photo except at either end of the hilly part featured here. Santa Margarita lake is near the western end of the route. There's an exceptionally nice KOA nearby which offers cabins. Note that the campsite is not on the lake - it's down the road, walking distance. Some of these photos show the area around Santa Margarita Lake. The whole area offers amazing roads. This is one of my favorite rides, coming up from Los Angeles every few years. Check out Tina's Diner in Maricopa for a unique and pleasant breakfast or lunch. Tina is a hoot. For visitors to California: This is an easy day's ride from LAX or anywhere in the greater Los Angeles area.
