Naxos is the largest of the Cyclades island group in the Aegean. Its fertile landscape spans mountain villages, ancient ruins and long stretches of beach. The namesake capital (also called Hora or Chora) is a port town filled with whitewashed, cube-shaped houses and medieval Venetian mansions. Kastro, a hilltop castle dating to the 13th century, houses an archaeological museum. You can get to Naxos either by air or by taking the ferry from Piraeus. If you’re flying , no worries, there are plenty of motorcycles or ATV to rent for 30-80€ a day. If you take the ferry from Piraeus, make sure you get to the port not later than 5:45 a.m. so you get a space for your motorcycle. The ferry ticklet is about 30€ (7 hours) or 50€ (4 hours) plus 25-30€ for the motorcycle. If you love the sea, I would highly recommend the ferry experience. The geography of the island is absolutely breathtaking. Mount Zeus has the tallest peak at over 1000m (3.200 ft) . The legend sais the young Zeus lived here in the mountain’s caves. The road is in good condition , very curvy , and awesome views.
