Don't take the E6 at the eastern side of river, but the western side. Beautiful views over the valley. Partly paved, partly gravel. Before you start, you could visit the fine stave-church in Ringebu. If you need a place to sleep I recommend Glomstadt Guesthouse near Tretten.
