I did that trip last late September (from Montenegro to Istria and back), before the first cold days of autumn came. A fantastic ride that should be on all bikers lists. Large (most) parts have been recently re-asphalted and it is real pleasure to ride. The views are for most part just breath taking. Avoid in July and August, too busy roads.
