This is a fast, well surfaced road that winds through the Canadian Shield, some of the oldest rocks on the Earth! It weaves around muskeg and hundreds of lakes and is seldom straight. Overtaking opportunities with good sight-lines are rare and this is in the heart of Ontario's 'cottage country', so you're often looking at the back of tourists in SUVs unless you can time your ride during a weekday. Fuel stops are hard to find, so fill up in Bracebridge if you're coming from the west. Keep an eye out for moose, deer, bears and other wildlife. This past summer I saw a massive snapping turtle walking across the road like a dinosaur. Other years I've seen all of the above.
