The D400 between Şırnak and Yüksekova is one the best drives in Turkey.
Between Yemişli and Ortaköy it follows the border with Iraq. The whole road is
full of military checkpoints where you will be stopped and asked what you are
doing here…. There are almost no foreigners who travel this part of Turkey
because it has the reputation of being very dangerous. But if you dare you will
be treated with spectacular views and welcoming people everywhere.
